Genital Herpes… totally manageable!

This virus causes painful sores on and around the genital area. This can be in the entire boxer short region (hips, butt, inner & outer thighs). People don’t always have sores, they can experience outbreaks, but herpes is always there and can always be passed on to someone else.  You should tell your partner that you have herpes before sex stuff happens.

Possible Signs & Symptoms

  • Sores on and around the genital area, in the boxer short area (tiny cluster of blisters)
  • Tingling or itching around genitals
  • Tender lumps in groin
  • Possible fever, headache
  • Can get sores in the mouth after oral sex with infected person (but not every “cold sore” you see on someone is from genital herpes, it can be from another type of herpes that has nothing to do with sex stuff)

Super important detail: You need to go to a clinic or nursing station for medication to help with the pain and controlling outbreaks (now and in the future). You also need to keep sores clean and dry, pat every gently when drying, wear loose pants and underwear that is cotton. Even when you don’t have sores, you can still pass on herpes. PS- your sexual partners need testing & treatment too.
