YWCA

For girls 11-17 the YWCA has GirlSpace which meets Wednesday evenings from 7-9 usually at Wapanohk School. Contact the Y at 778-6341.

For Youth 14-29, we have a Youth Employment Workshop that is offered by request. Contact Jo-Anne at 778-1208.

Youth 18-29 can access services at both Steps to Success (adult literacy and workplace essential skills training) at 677-5016, and the Assessment Centre (career development and academic testing) at 778-1208.

 Godmother’s Closet which provides free formal wear for girls (although we do have a few things on hand for boys as well) unable to afford prom/grad dresses. Contact Arlene at 778-1204

Babies’ Best Start offers a nutrition program for anyone who is pregnant or has a baby under a year of age. Contact Candace at 778-1209.

Two scholarships a year: The Bev Teare Award, and the Joan Johnston Award, both are worth $500.00. The Bev Teare award is for a first year nursing student and the application deadline is I November. The Joan Johnston award is for a graduating student of R.D. Parker who has been involved in volunteer work. Contact Arlene at 778-1204.

Young Woman of Distinction award for outstanding females under 29. It is handed out in April at the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards Banquet, and applications are due in February. Contact Arlene at 778-104.
